Archival Storytelling
Working at the Mahn Center
Working at the Mahn Center
Archives are more than dusty papers and artifacts.
They tell stories about communities and how they’ve changed over time.
This project gave me the chance to discover Ohio University’s history at the Mahn Center for Archives and Special Collections inside Alden Library.
Bill Kimok, the university archivist and records manager, assisted me throughout the process.

Through extensive research, I found an abundance of photos, newspaper clippings, and other sources to tell the stories of the teams, people, and events highlighted on this website.
My journey in this project showed me the importance of not only preserving materials from the past – but using those materials to revive old memories and take viewers back in time.

Kimok discussed the value of archival research in the following video. One of his most important messages is the archives are for
EVERYONE.

I’d like to thank Bill Kimok and the entire Mahn Center staff for the opportunity to work with them. I could not have done this project without their guidance and support.
